A Pastoral Letter
Monday; March 8, 2010
At my request, our district superintendent (Elmer Revelle) called a meeting of our Pastor-Parish Relations Committee yesterday afternoon at 3 p.m. I announced at that time that I will be leaving our church at the end of June. I have been dealing with some health issues over the past few months. With my health issues, I have had less energy and some nagging pain. I am not able to give the time I believe is necessary. Our church needs and deserves more than I can give at this point in history. People here have been wonderful and I have heard no complaints. I, however, find it increasingly painful to give less than 100% to this great ministry.
I look forward to spending more time with my family and with our farm. I, however, will miss our wonderful church and the wonderful people of our church. You have been great. My time here has been a wonderful gift to both me and Sylvia.
Our Pastor-Parish Relations Committee is working in an advisory relationship with our district superintendent. It is hoped that we can announce the name of the pastor to be appointed within the next couple weeks. The appointment of a new pastor will become effective on July 1st.
In the meantime, let us all do everything we can to make the next several weeks a great time of ministry together and prepare to receive a new pastor. Please pray for our district superintendent, bishop and cabinet as pastoral appointments are made. Please pray for whoever is to be appointed as our new pastor.
Blessings and peace,
Jim
